20/20

In hindsight maybe we should have just skipped the first round of IVF altogether. Maybe we should have just saved the money and heartache and gone the egg donor route right away. Or adopted. Or rescued a lot of dogs. Or moved to Greece and opened a cafe in Santorini.

Or maybe we should have done even more rounds of IVF before going the donor direction. Maybe there was a chance, however remote, that one of the rounds would have been successful. Maybe we should have just kept pressing our bets. Lived out on the edge. It can and does work for many. Maybe we should have started out at SCRC to begin with (not naming any other centers in this blog, but…..). Maybe if we cut back on the sugar. Or maybe I should have gone to acupuncture. If he was drinking less coffee and alcohol and hitting the gym a lot more then maybe….. Maybe if we’d just managed expectations or had less stress.

You are going to get overwhelmed on this journey. You are going to get inundated with opinions and information and advice. You will second guess. You will wonder “what if.” You will go a little crazy analyzing. Here’s some advice, try not to do that. Trust yourself. Trust your doctors and nurses. Relax. Breathe. Hindsight isn’t always 20/20. That’s an expression. This is your life. None of us plays life perfectly. Remember that. Stay here, in the now. Be present.

And love yourself.
