Assisted Reproductive Technologies
Many of our patients come to Southern California Reproductive Center (SCRC) for our state-of-the-art assisted reproductive technologies (ART) facilities, located in-house at our Beverly Hills/Los Angeles office. These laboratory facilities and their expert infertility specialists comprise the ART Reproductive Center.
What are Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART)?
Assisted reproductive technologies (ART) involve the direct manipulation of eggs, sperm, and embryos for use in infertility treatment. Types of assisted reproductive technologies performed at SCRC include in vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo transfer (IVF-ET), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and assisted hatching (AH) of embryos. Newer assisted reproductive technologies include such powerful techniques as embryo biopsy and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) for chromosomal and genetic evaluation. Note that artificial insemination is not considered one of the assisted reproductive technologies, even though it is a mainstay of infertility treatment.
The following explanations will help you better understand the various types of assisted reproductive technologies:
- In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
- In Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer (IVF-ET)
- Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
